Lion Dance

The members of Tiger Crane Lion Dance Team work together to spread the tradition of lion dancing. Lion dance is one of the most ancient traditions in the Asian culture, believe to be able to scare away evil spirits and bring good fortune. The tradition of lion dancing has evolved over many years into an acrobatic and athletic sport with tricks and stunts. During practices, we teach our new members the basic movements and then integrate those movements into the lion. We also encourage our members to learn the instruments and music to lion dance. Our style of lion dancing mainly consists of a combination of both southern and contemporary styles. We perform outside and inside of UCR for weddings, grand openings and other special events to bring in good luck and prosperity to businesses and families. Our practices are located in front of the student services building every Tuesday and Thursday from 6 to 8pm.
